Oliver Just last year China's State Council announced its strategic goals in its 2030 plan, to make China a leading nation regarding AI technology and the industry being worth around 150 billion US Dollars. Countries like Germany, France and the UK each announcing plans to invest in AI with amounts between 1 to 3 billion Euros in the coming years to boost the development.

Oliver The ability of humans to process visual information in as little as 150 miliseconds is just outstanding. Humans naturally are able to distinguish between different objects or different landscapes in their receptive field (e.g. beach and ocean) and also recognize, what objects they see. Imitating this ability is a large research area in artificial intelligence and computer vision.

Oliver One might think, in order to become a leading nation in AI technology, you need the best AI engineers and scientists. It certainly is a factor, but not the single predominant one. But which other factors should we be looking at?
